Carlos Tevez's hat-trick helped Manchester City beat Norwich to reduce Manchester United's lead to two points at the Premier League summit.
United play Aston Villa on Sunday, but Tevez's swerving effort beat John Ruddy before he set up Sergio Aguero.
Norwich replied when Andrew Surman blasted in after Joe Hart's punch.
But Tevez boosted the lead with a header and Aguero's solo effort added the gloss before Tevez rounded Ruddy and Adam Johnson tapped in.
The Argentine celebrated his trio of goals with a golf swing, perhaps mocking those who questioned his desire during his leave of absence where he was pictured on the golf course in his home country.
But after a fractious period in his Manchester City career, his performance and the result showed that his team's title ambitions were back on track.
Despite boss Roberto Mancini's claims that his team had no chance of overtaking Sir Alex Ferguson's team, his once again fluent side showed they have not given up.
Aguero, who was also a menace, and scored two fine goals, came inches away from matching his countryman when he hit the post late on.
