Speaking during the launch of the Niko na Safaricom Live, Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore said, “Safaricom is committed to growing local talent and that is why we have invested overSh250 million in Niko Na Safaricom. Kenya artistes are talented and we are providing them with a platform to deliver world class entertainment that will connect with millions of youth and Kenyans across the country.”
The five-month tour will kick off in Meru then move to Kisumu, Mombasa, Eldoret and Kisumu and culminate in the Grand Finale in Nairobi on December 15. The six - made for TV - concerts will also involve production of local content by the signed up musicians which will be marketed through Safaricom Live portal and Skiza on mobile phones.
The concerts will also incorporate performances by last year’s artistes who include Wahu, Jua Cali, Wyre, Nameless, Ken wa Maria, Osogo Winyo, Ally B, Phonotex Success Band, M.O.G, Eko Dydda, Allan Aaron, DJ John and Mike Rua.
