The Kenya Prisons Volleyball team departed Nairobi on Thursday afternoon
for Doha Qatar where they are scheduled to participate in the FIVB
world club championships that start this Saturday. The team of 12
players and six officials is expected to land in Doha shortly after
6:00pm.
Ahead of their departure, the team was hosted to a breakfast send off
ceremony sponsored by Panari Hotel. During the send off ceremony, Coach
David Lung’aho assured Kenyans that the team has had good preparation
ahead of the tourney adding that they are ready to post better results
compared to their previous two outings where they lost in all matches.“We are well prepared and ready to surprise many. We assure Kenyans that we will put in our best.” Lung’aho said.
Captain Diana Khisa said her team mates are well charged and properly motivated as they head in for the world championships.
Kenya opens her campaign against Puerto Rico’s Lancheras Catana on Saturday in the opening match of the Championships at Aspire Dome. Their other Pool match is against Turkey champions and former world club champions Fernerbahce.
