Though it may be more acceptable in mainstream culture to have a tattoo or body piercing, as the following study shows, the assumption that those with tattoos and piercings are more liberal with their morals and values, especially sexually – may not be an empty one.
In a new study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, researchers evaluated sexual behaviours among young adults with body modifications – tattoos and piercings.
Researchers found that adults, aged between 20 and 35, with tattoos and piercings had their first sexual intercourse statistically earlier and were more sexually active. Adults with tattoos and piercings had statically higher frequency of sexual intercourses and oral sex was more likely to be a dominant sexual activity in adults compared with controls. Researchers also found that adults with tattoos and piercings were twice more likely to have early sexual initiation.
