The Kenyan 800m trio led by world record holder and world champion David Lekuta Rudisha all qualified for the semi finals of the men’s 800m event to be held on Tuesday night at the Olympic stadium in London.

Sudan’s Abubakar Kaki who is Rudisha’s closest challenger also led from start to finish in heat three that also featured Kenya’s Timothy Kitum. Kaki clocked 1:45:51 while Kitum had 1:45:72. Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed Abdula Laziz Ladan finished third in this heat with 1:46:09.

In heat six that also had the youthful Ethiopian Mohammed Amman who beat Rudisha last year in Milan, Kenya’s Chemut Anthony  was convincing around the two laps but Aman with 1:47.34 had the last laugh on the line as the Ethiopian won the race beating Chemut to second place (1:47.34) in the last 20 meters.

The semi finals are scheduled for Tuesday 2155HRS while the finals will be on Thursday 2200hrs.
