Digital Migration On This Friday

Kenya’s High Court has issued a ruling temporarily suspending Nairobi’s planned digital migration from analogue broadcasting to December 23, 2013, to allow the determination of a suit filed by three media houses challenging the migration.
Justice David Majanja issued the new date after the attorney general, the Communications Commission of Kenya (CCK) and other interested parties presented their final submissions and arguments.
Justice Majanja said he will rule on the matter on December 23, extending the migration date by 10 days from the planned Friday deadline, pending the ruling on the main petition by the media houses.
Royal Media Services, Nation Media Group and the Standard Group have challenged the switch citing discrimination against them and claiming violation of the law after being allegedly locked out of the digital migration process.
In his submissions yesterday lawyer Paul Muite, representing the media houses, argued that the application for joint licensing by the media houses was dismissed unfairly and that the petitioners had colluded with the government to oversee the migration.
“We are not opposed to digital migration, but we are questioning why the licensing is being done in a discriminatory manner,”he said
Muite asked the court to allow his clients to transmit signals through dual-transmission of both analogue and digital signals, since the respondents in the case had not stated they could be prejudiced.
“My client will suffer by losing advertisements and intellectual property content to a competitor who wants to thrive on what the petitioners have spent millions of money to produce,” he said
On the matter of availability of set-top boxes and prices, CCK lawyer Wambua Kilonzo said there was no obligation on the signal distributor to provide digital set-top boxes to consumers and the decision to buy the set-top boxes belongs to consumers and not broadcasters.
Justice Majanja also dismissed the application by Muite seeking a three-judge bench to hear the petition.
“The applicants had not raised weighty constitutional questions that need the intervention of a bench,” Majanja said
“In my view, I can handle the petition and any party that is aggrieved can move to the appeals court as provided by the law.”

The cause of his death has not been established although the singer was being treated for diabetes and high blood pressure.
Police and Thieves, produced by the celebrated Lee "Scratch" Perry, became a 1970s anthem and was later covered by The Clash.
Junior Murvin - born Murvin Junior Smith - began his career as a hotel entertainer in Jamaica, eventually becoming a recording artist in the capital, Kingston, the Jamaica Observer reported. Police and Thieves was a hit in Jamaica and also took off in the UK where it found an audience with punk rock aficionados. The song became closely associated with the Notting Hill Carnival in London which ended in rioting the year it was released. Murvin continued to record through the 1980s although his later singles had less success.

Kenzo Of Ogopa Deejays Pees On Himself After A Failed Robbery

You know Kenzoas an Ogopa Dejays artiste who brought you hits such as Mama Milka Zam Zam, Hey You and Jiwachilie.
Yesterday, Kenzo was on his way to a show in Maua(one hour away from Meru), with his DJ, when their car spun out of control thanks to some mud then crashed. When they were in a standstill, a gang of thieves surrounded their car and asked them to shed their belongings. That's until they spotted Kenzo. "Mazee huu ni msanii!" they exclaimed, and proceeded to discuss the way forward in kimeru. After an intense spat and deliberation which was followed by Kenzo urinating in his underpants, they decided to let the artiste go.

The robbers actually helped Kenzo and his DJ out of the rut, and they managed to perform as planned. With changed underpants of course. It was a good show in the end.

 R. Kelly and Jeezy team on Black Panties track
 @durkchild
RnB crooner R. Kellyjust wont stop, just when we thought he was done and hang his gloves he bounces back with an album. Kels is set to release his 12th album, Black Panties, on Dec. 10.
The "closet" singer has featured a couple of bigwigs in his new project  including Kelly Rowland, Jeezy, Ludacris and 2 Chainz. Future, Migos and Juicy J make the LP's deluxe edition.

According to Vibe Magazine, Black Panties was inspired by a swarm of panties being thrown at R. Kelly during a concert. "I was on stage doing my Love Letter tour and I broke down into "Seems Like You're Ready," Kelly told VIBE. "So I start singing (the line) "Temperatures rising" and here come the panties.
It was all different colors but then this one particular pair of panties—they were black and medium—landed on my mic and my wrist, and immediately I said, that's a sign. I gotta go back and write a song called 'Black Panties.'"

The album is said to be a return to early R. Kelly and his crooning on his debut 12 Play. A stream of the LP is available via itemvn below.
