FIFA World Cup Trophy Set To Land In Nairobi

This coming Thursday, Nairobi will play host yet again to the FIFA World Cup trophy as it takes its third round around the world ahead of the 2014 world cup games. The 18carats gold trophy will be available for viewing at the KICC grounds on the 28th November from 9 a.m to 8 p.m for all those who will have acquired access to the venue.

This is the third time that Coca Cola is taking the authentic FIFA World Cup Trophy on tour around the world. The 2013/2014 Trophy Tour is set to visit 89 countries during the 267-day tour. The Trophy Tour begun its journey in Rio de Janeiro on 12 September 2013. The Trophy will travel around the world for 9 months before returning to the country which will host the 2014 FIFA World Cup which is Brazil. The total distance the tour will cover according to the trophy tour official Facebook page is 149,576.78 KM (92,942.702 Miles) or more than three times the circumference of Earth.
The Tour originated from a partnership between FIFA and Coca-Cola, one of FIFA’s longest-standing corporate partners. The tour gives fans the opportunity to enjoy a rare close-up view of the authentic FIFA World Cup Trophy, have a souvenir photo taken of themselves with the trophy, view a special hologram animation showcasing memorable moments of the FIFA World Cup, participate in interactive displays among other entertainment.
The first time the Original FIFA World Cup Trophy had made an unprecedented tour visiting 31 cities in 28 countries over a three-month stretch was in 2006 from January 7 to April 10 before the FIFA World Cup in Germany. During the tour, Only sitting Heads of States and previous World Cup Winners are allowed to touch the trophy.
